Carnation Magic
You can change the color of a carnation. Is it magic? What do you think?
YOU NEED:
- One white carnation with a long stem
- Two heavy paper cups
- Blue food coloring
- Clear water
- Small scissors
WHAT TO DO:
1. Split the carnation stem in half. Go about halfway up toward the flower.
2. Fill one cup with clear water.
3. Fill the other cup with blue food coloring.
4. Place one side of the stem in the cup of water and the other side in the cup of blue liquid.
5. Wait several hours and see what happens.
WHAT HAPPENED:
Half of the flower should stay white and half should turn blue. The flower "drank" the water and the food coloring through tiny veins in the stem.
